Halzephron House self-catering cottages stand on an unspoilt stretch of Cornish headland with views across the ocean. Surrounded by National Trust land the village gastro pub, sandy beaches and golf course are within walking distance. The house has featured in magazines including Elle Decoration, Coast, Conde Nast Traveller, Hello and the Cottage in Country Living. There is a roomy cottage which sleeps 6 and looks towards Fishing Cove and the setting sun, a cosy cabin sleeping 2 with views down to Halzephron Cove and the observatory, also sleeps 2 with it’s own wildflower meadow, fire pit and expansive sea views. Halzephron is sandwiched between two Poldark locations, Dollar Cove (10-minute walk) and Doctor Enys’ house (10-minute walk).
Halzephron remains in the memory and many return. The guest book flows with the words of actors, musicians, artists and impressarios. Literary guests have included AA Milne, Compton Mackenzie, JM Barrie and Arthur Conan Doyle.
The Cornish coastal path runs through the edge of the gardens and wildflower meadow down to the fenced cliff edge. The organic garden has been free of pesticides whilst in the current ownership (13 years). There’s also a walled garden with palm trees, a ‘secret garden’ for those who seek it out and a large orangery, perfect for candlelit evenings. The games pitch and trampoline overlook Mount’s Bay.
A range of relaxing treatments from reflexology to holistic massage are available on request. Individual yoga sessions can be arranged at the house. There are many activities, fine restaurants and cool cafés locally, see our area page.
