Halzephron House stands on an unspoilt stretch of Cornish headland with views across the ocean. The house is surrounded by National Trust land and has been refurbished in a contemporary, relaxed style. The village gastro pub, sandy beaches, golf course and surf school are within walking distance. Designed for large self-catering groups, and when not booked as a whole, Bed and Breakfast guests. The house has featured in magazines including Elle Decoration, Coast, Conde Nast Traveller, Hello and the Cottage in Country Living. There is also a cosy cabin, with its own entrance and garden. The recent Poldark series included a shoot at Dollar Cove, one of the beaches at the bottom of the lane (see blog for photo).
Halzephron remains in the memory and many return. The guest book flows with the words of actors, musicians, artists and impressarios. Literary guests have included AA Milne, Compton Mackenzie, JM Barrie and Arthur Conan Doyle.
The Gardens include a walled garden with palm trees, a ‘secret garden’ for those who seek it out and a large orangery, perfect for candlelit evenings. The games pitch and trampoline overlook Mount’s Bay.
All the bedrooms in the main house are individually furnished. There is an ensuite shower room and a limestone family bathroom, a slate and pebble wetroom, sociable kitchen with aga, a beautiful drawing room with large balcony and stunning views; as well as a living room with Sky TV.
The Cabin and Observatory are both available by request – romantic seaside hideaways for two.
A range of relaxing treatments from reflexology to holistic massage are available on request. Individual yoga sessions can be arranged at the house. There are many activities, fine restaurants and cool cafés locally, see our area page.
