BEDROOMS

Halzephron House has five bedrooms. Additional accommodation in the Observatory guest cottage and Cabin (which both sleep two) can be rented if required subject to availability. Rooms are available for Bed and Breakfast when the house is not booked as a whole.

The 'tower' bedroom has views in all four directions with glorious seaviews in two. The French antique bed, upholstered in Carolyn Quartermaine lime-green velvet has sink-in down pillows and duvet. This suite is complete with private marble shower room and an upstairs drawing room with its sumptuous velvet sofa, huge ornate mirror and large deck looking west, perfect for sunset watching.

The blue room has an incredibly comfortable superking bed with grey fur throw and views across the walled garden to the sea. Paintings by local artist, Gilly Cooper adorn the walls. The bathroom, with it's copacious double ended bath looks west across the lawns. At night the lighthouses of Wolf Rock and Tater Du can be seen across Mount's Bay as can the lights from Mousehole, Penzance and Porthleven.

The family room, with king size bed and two bunk beds, looks eastwards, catching the sunrise across the cornfields towards windmills and the Goonhilly Earth Station.

The southerly twin bedroom (can be zipped together to make a superking bed) overlooks the walled garden and Pedngwinian Point.

The sunny twin dayroom (downstairs) has use of the pebble wetroom. Overlooking the walled garden, it has a bookcase filled with novels and guide books as well as the Encylopedia Britannica.

The Observatory, an ensuite guest cottage is available by request for larger groups. Overlooking the sea, in the wall of the garden, the Observatory has a double bed, ensuite shower room and small seating area.

ORANGERY

The orangery (45ft long) overlooks the walled garden and is popular for dining, we often open the double doors and BBQ on the sunken terrace outside. The table seats up to 18 and there are candle lanterns along the walls to add to the magical atmosphere.

An all weather collapsable table tennis set lives at one end but can easily be wheeled out if you wish to use this room for dancing, the floor is solid oak.

The vine produces copious bunches of delicious black grapes and the bouganveillea and geraniums seem to bloom for most of the year.

The walled garden is secure for young children whilst the main garden has a ground level trampoline and football nets for older children. (All at user's risk and occasionally used by the owner's children who live next door).

This garden overlooks the sea and it is possible to walk straight out onto the coastal path to Gunwalloe Fishing Cove, Looe Bar (NT) and Porthleven in one direction and to Church Cove, Poldhu and Mullion in the other.

Seals, dolphins, falcons, choughs and ravens have all been seen from the Halzephron grounds.

Press and guests

HELLO MAGAZINE, 13 June 2006.

The benign spirits of AA Milne, JM Barrie and Compton Mackenzie linger around Halzephron House on Cornwall's Lizard Peninsula, where owner William Sich regularly entertained literary figures at the turn of the century. Now you can have your own memorable house party in the property.....

WOMAN AND HOME, March 2006.

Is this Britain's most stylish holiday home? This spectacular clifftop house sleeps 12 and has views to Penzance. Everything is state-of-the-art from the Aga to the pebble and slate wetroom. Furniture has been custom-made by Cornish craftsmen and local art hangs on walls. Children will be in heaven when they find the skateboard ramp and 10ft trampoline (and that's on top of the 32 inch TV and DVD collection). A short stroll across National Trust land, whether to the coastal path, a surfing beach, or the Halzephron Inn - Cornwall's best dining inn - spells bliss.

"Cannot say enough what a terrific holiday the house provided - we've stayed in Cornwall dozens of times at different locations and this was the best yet". Emily Bell, May 2005.

"The best seaside holiday ever". June 2005

" We had babies, dog, toddler and something for everyone. Beautiful location and smashing surf". Sarah Webb, July 2005.

"A great week in a fabulous house! Just had the best time and will definitely come again." Hannah and Nick Anderson, 2005.

"A splendid spot for a family reunion". The Snell Clan. August 2005.

"We all had a fantastic holiday and have fallen in love with this magical house". The Midwoods August 2005.

"Great house, perfect position and better than usual weather for the great British Bank Holiday". The Vallances. September 2005.

"I don't really want to leave! The house itself has lots of lovely touches - too many to mention, and the surroundings are stunning. One week just isn't enough". April 2005.

LOCAL AREA

There are two glorious beaches at the bottom of our no-through lane, Church Cove and Dollar Cove. Both are used by surfers when the conditions are favourable and Church Cove has a life guard during the summer months. The ancient Church of St Winwaloe lies in the sand dunes and Mullion golf course reaches down to the beach and the reed beds. Dollar Cove is popular for rockpooling at low tide when it is sandy. Church Cove is sandy all year. You can walk from Church Cove over the hill to Poldhu Cove a 15-minute walk away and carry on along the coast path in both directions. The closest beach to the house is Gunwalloe Fishing Cove which stretches to Porthleven, fantastic for walking but not a swimming beach.
